Pelican Energy TCI is the public electricity supplier in Turks and Caicos, serving the islands of Providenciales, North Caicos, Middle Caicos, South Caicos, East Caicos, Grand Turk, Salt Cay, and adjacent Cays. The company has over 18,500 customers, an aggregate thermal generating capacity of approximately 101 megawatts, and 4 megawatts of grid-tied rooftop distributed solar PV.  

Regarded as one of the most reliable electricity providers in the Caribbean, the company has maintained a 99.97 % reliability index over the past three years. Pelican Energy TCI is a subsidiary of Vision Ridge Partners, a global sustainable real assets investor.

Pelican Energy TCI is headquartered in Providenciales and operates with 172 employees based throughout its service territory. Pelican Energy TCI is committed to employing qualified local talent and has a staff complement that consists of approximately 88% Turks and Caicos Islanders. Pelican Energy TCI is led locally by President and CEO Ruth Forbes and her Executive Team.

PETCI have a combined diesel-fired generating capacity of 90.7 MW. In 2019, the companies met a combined peak demand of 42.6 MW. The companies own more than 600 circuit kilometers of transmission and distribution lines across the islands, and together they operate four vertically integrated electricity systems.

Pelican Energy TCI operates private, fully integrated utility systems that generate and supply electricity to nearly all of the Turks and Caicos Islands. The company serves the islands of Providenciales, North Caicos, and Middle Caicos pursuant to a 50-year license that expires in 2037, and pursuant to a 50-year license on South Caicos that runs through 2036. On Grand Turk and Salt Cay, the company operates pursuant to a 50-year license that also expires in 2036. Pelican Energy TCI also holds 25-year supplier licenses for the cays between Providenciales and North Caicos (except Parrot Cay), East Caicos and adjacent cays and inlets.

Pelican Energy TCI has achieved several certifications from the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), demonstrating its commitment to operational excellence in all aspects of its business. The company is certified for its business continuity management (ISO 22301); information security management (ISO/IEC 27001); service management (ISO/IEC 20000-1); environmental management (ISO 14001), and occupational health and safety management systems (ISO 45001).

Pelican Energy TCI is also committed to exploring environmentally sustainable energy solutions for the Turks and Caicos Islands and integrating nontraditional services and new technology. The company’s grid-tied solar options offer commercial and residential customers opportunities to participate in renewable energy integration. The company’s electric vehicle and charging station project represents a further commitment to integrating and preparing for market opportunities, such as the electrification of the transportation industry, thereby creating a platform for interested customers.
