TCI Power Company Earns Global Acclaim Among Top Five Finalists for Investors In People Overseas Employer of the Year: Platinum Award
Pelican Energy TCI (formerly FortisTCI) received another major international recognition for its people management after emerging among the top five finalists for the Investors In People (IIP) 2025 Overseas Employer of the Year: Platinum Award.
The Employer of the Year: Platinum Award recognizes the highest level of excellence among organizations outside the UK, specifically those that have achieved Platinum accreditation from Investors in People. This award recognizes organizations that demonstrate an outstanding commitment to people development, and Platinum is the most prestigious level within IIP’s international framework. It celebrates organizations that excel at investing in their people and creating exceptional, high-performing workplaces globally.
The nomination presented the country’s energy provider with a chance to be named IIP’s number one Platinum employer from outside the UK. Company representatives were invited to the Investors in People Awards, held at the Old Billingsgate in London, United Kingdom, on November 12, 2025. President and CEO of the power company, Ruth Forbes, attended the ceremony, accompanied by Claudia Munnings, Director of Learning and Organizational Development, and Marcus Francis, Director of EHS, People and Culture.
Investors in People is an internationally recognized standard and global benchmark for effective people management. Becoming a finalist distinguishes the power company on a global stage, affirming its dedication to sustaining high standards in employee development and workplace culture. Joining other leading organizations worldwide, this recognition highlights the company’s commitment to creating a better workplace for all employees.
Pelican Energy TCI is the only Investors in People certified organization in the Turks and Caicos Islands and the only utility company in the Caribbean with Platinum certification. It is one of only two companies in the region to achieve this distinction. Only 7% of Investors in People's 50,000 accredited organizations worldwide have achieved the Platinum level.
Accreditations are valid for three years and are awarded at four levels—Standard, Silver, Gold, and Platinum—based on performance. The Investors in People framework evaluates how organizations lead, support, and develop their teams using a rigorous model of nine performance indicators and 27 themes. Scoring “high performing” across all themes, the power company advanced from Silver to Platinum earlier this year.
