The Impact on Your Bill
Fuel Factor Rates Update: August 2026

Dear Valued Customer,

We're continuing to keep you informed of the latest fuel factor rate trends for those who are eligible for support under the TCI Government Fuel Factor Relief Subsidy, and those customers who are not covered.

Under the government's program the Fuel Factor rate remains capped at US$0.22 per kWh for eligible residential customers through October 2026. This means that eligible residential customers will pay only 22 cents per kilowatt hour used, regardless of changes to the Fuel Factor rate during this period. The TCI Government pays the difference, or the remaining amount, directly to the utility company on behalf of eligible customers.

If you are not eligible for the TCI Government Fuel Factor Relief Subsidy, here is what to expect on your August electricity bill:

  • Providenciales, North Caicos, and Middle Caicos: An 8.2% decrease in the Fuel Factor—from $0.3017 to $0.2771 per kilowatt hour (kWh).
  • Grand Turk and Salt Cay: A 2% increase in the Fuel Factor—from $0.2636 to $0.2690 per kWh.
  • South Caicos: The August Fuel Factor will be available soon.

Customers not meeting the Government's eligibility criteria—including commercial, industrial, government, and some residential accounts with a rolling three-month average bill of $1,500 or more—continue to pay the full Fuel Factor rate that applies to their island.

IMPORTANT TO REMEMBER

Under the TCIG Fuel Factor Relief Subsidy, eligibility for residential customers is assessed each billing cycle, based on your three most recent electricity bills (where available). You may qualify one month and not the next, depending on whether your three-month rolling average reaches or exceeds $1,500, as set by the TCI Government.

Accounts under investigation or confirmed for meter tampering, unauthorized connections, or electricity theft are also not eligible.

If you are eligible this month, your bill will display a line labeled "TCIG Fuel Factor Credit."

For ease and transparency, the bottom section of your bill is updated monthly to show:

  • Your current rolling three-month average, based only on Electric Rate and Fuel Factor charges.
  • Your recent usage charges and a graph of your electricity usage history.
